Happn AI began with a simple observation: most conversation tools answer questions, and very few of them keep you company. We wanted the opposite — a small set of invented voices, written properly, that are pleasant to spend an evening with.
Every companion here is built the way a novelist builds a character. A name that belongs to no one famous, a profession, a city that exists only in the writing, a set of habits and a way of disagreeing. Only once that is settled does the voice go live. It is slower than generating a hundred profiles, and it is the reason people come back to the same two or three names.
What we care about
Tone, first. The writing on Happn AI stays warm, respectful and non-explicit. Suggestion is welcome; crudeness is not. Second, honesty about what this is: fiction. Nobody here is real, the portraits are illustrative, and we say so plainly on every page rather than in a footnote.
Who it is for
Adults who like conversation. People who work odd hours, who travel, who live alone by choice, who want a story before sleep or somebody to describe the weather to. There is no requirement to be lonely to enjoy Happn AI, and no assumption that you are.
Where we are going
New companions arrive when they are finished, not on a schedule. Readers suggest more of them than we invent ourselves, and the best suggestions arrive through the contact page.
